- Walsworth, a real estate investor, is known for his friendly demeanor and for his pleasant singing voice, as he often led a small group of fellow legislators in singing “Happy Birthday” to colleagues on the House chamber floor.
- Outgoing and outspoken, Walsworth never hesitates to express his conservative beliefs. Walsworth was the first announced legislator to endorse the Blue Print Louisiana plan, and he stated that the plan’s priorities have been his priorities since he began serving in Baton Rouge. Ethics reform remains Walsworth’s top priority and following close behind are education, skilled labor, health care and transportation.
- As chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Walsworth has carved out a new niche in his long term of service. He pushed through the constitutional amendment that was needed in 2009 to place the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in state law. He also authored a bill forcing public facilities to be made available to Louisiana’s citizenry during a declared emergency. Walsworth has likewise stepped up as a floor leader on economic development matters – he not only established the retention and modernization program for existing businesses, but helped create new revenue sources for the Louisiana Mega-Project Development Fund to land larger projects.
